Sorry but sometimes therapy is bad and it’s damaging to have a therapist that never challenges you or says you’re in the wrong and I know mooooost of them do not hold their clients accountable because well it’s obvious lol. Also I think selfishness is very very centered in modern therapy and “healing yourself” and it’s like that’s really not necessary lol other people exist too 🫣
always remember when Lundy Barcroft who worked with convicted wife beaters had problems because the wife beater’s therapists were defending them. and how an abusive man in therapy just gets better at abusing his wife.
after my at-the-time bf started going to therapy for cheating on me, there was a conversation where I told him that, although I had empathy for him, I wasn't responsible for his insecurities and they weren't a good excuse for cheating on me. He accused me of "habitually pivoting to new topics in conversation" and having a "vengeful personality". It was so obvious that he somehow was getting his therapist to spend sessions diagnosing and analyzing me, a person he or she had never met, instead of actually helping him work through his commitment issues.
